Setup/Configuration/Integration of the BuildingConnected Subcontractor Database

Setup/Configuration/Integration of the BuildingConnected Subcontractor Database

If you have chosen to enable the integration to BuildingConnected, the administrator can define a  list of subcontractor attributes that will be accessed and displayed when clicking on subcontractors in a BidMatrix bid package. You can also add additional subcontractor attributes for your BuildingConnected subcontractors. Custom attributes that you add in BidMatrix can be populated in BidMatrix for each BuildingConnected subcontractor. When you supply values to the subcontractor custom attributes, those attributes can display along side the attributes you are pulling directly from BuildingConnected.

You set up and maintain the list of BuildingConnected subcontractor attributes by clicking on the Settings icon and then choosing Subcontractors on the Settings navigation panel. Remember, you first need to enable the integration to BuildingConnected by selecting the enable BuildingConnected option in the Integrations menu option on the Administration panel.

Defining your list of BuildingConnected subcontractor attributes is very similar to defining your custom project attributes.  When setting up subcontractor attributes, you will not need to add fields for contacts. Contacts, their email addresses, and phone numbers can be added while you are in a bid package, or they can be added directly in the local BidMatrix database.

To add a subcontractor attribute that will be populated from the subcontractor company record in BuildingConnected, click on the BuildingConnected icon in the list of attribute types, as shown below:

Next, choose a BuildingConnected attribute from the list of available attributes that are accessible using the BuildingConnected API. The description for the BuildingConnected attribute you have chosen will prefill with the attribute description in BuildingConnected. If you would like to change the description, you can do that and it will leave the mapping in tact. Continue selecting the BuildingConnected attributes that you would like to see in BidMatrix, as demonstrated in the screen shot below:

Important: You can also add subcontractor attributes that do not include a mapping to a BuildingConnected attribute. When you supply values to these types of attributes, either directly in the subcontractor database or while you are in a bid package, those attributes will then be visible in the subcontractor database and future projects.
